Automotive Listening Evaluation

 SAI performs static and driving evaluations of vehicle audio systems. These evaluations can be done on your site, near our home base, or most anywhere in the world.

We use SAI's Skilled Listening methodology, which provides a highly repeatable and detailed evaluation of your vehicular audio system's performance.

SAI's "Skilled Listening" method is designed to provide a result that can predict customer satisfaction. The breakdown of the sonic presentation into 33 perceptually-orthogonal elements provides scores that can be validated  or challenged by other listeners.

Objective, Independent
Audio System Evaluation

Stroud Audio Inc. can serve as an independent evaluator of your automotive audio systems. This can help resolve evaluation differences and provide a solid basis for design improvements.

When correctable performance issues arise, we can help with changes to tuning and with component choices. SAI will offer to recuse itself from further official evaluations of vehicles we design or modify.

Testing Methodology Details

The trained listener(s) from SAI make initial listening tests to determine if system is working as intended. If significant sound issues are noted, suggestions are offered and the system set up as properly as possible.

The frequency response of the vehicle is then measured to determine if there are issues worthy of attention. These response measurements do not affect listener scoring, but serve to call attention to possible sound defects.

The vehicle is driven at highway speeds and all 33 characteristics of the vehicle's sound are scored. The final scores are calculated by the Skilled Listening Scoresheet.
