About Car Audio Tuning Training
This class will help students to quickly develop efficient and effective vehicular audio tuning skills. These skills, along with the proper measurement tools, will enable students to expertly tune audio systems to maximize system performance and customer satisfaction.
Audio Tuning Class Structure
The students will learn the SAI structured vehicle tuning methodology, a combination of relevant audio measurement and ordered skilled listening
The students will first be shown the SAI tuning method with a slide presentation. Next, the students will work along side SAI's experienced audio engineer and will take over the audio system tuning activity.
The student will learn how to equalize front and rear speakers, position the center image, counteract sibilant pull, maximize bass capability, and much more.
Both the training and use of the tuning method itself is made efficient by the use of computer-based tools. For example, equalization is both visual and audible, and is quickly done in real time. Setups used for training are preloaded for training efficiency.

Base, Mid and Premium
Audio System Levels Tuned
Three levels of audio systems will be tuned. The student will first tune a base system with four door speakers and two tweeters. Next, a subwoofer will be added and the system retuned. Finally, time delay, and phase compensation.will be made available and the system retuned for a third time.
Even if our subject vehicle is using components selected more for their cost-effectiveness than their performance, the student will be surprised at quality of his/her tuning result.
More About Our Tuning Methodology
The SAI structured tuning method is designed to be a fast and precise way of tuning all levels of systems. Students have tuned vehicles to relatively high performance levels in little over an hour.
The methodology includes these elements:
- Measuring acoustic paths for setting of time
delays and phase shifts
- Measuring and equalizing each location, then
each location pair to acoustic targets. -
- Adjusting overall system EQ to system target curve and loudness characteristic
- Finding best compromise between frequency response and spatial characteristics
- Driving the vehicle and performing low-level equalization adjustments as needed
Skilled Listening Recommendation
This course is best utilized by persons who have taken Stroud Audio's Skilled Listening Seminar.
